Visit Maui

The one thing we would encourage visitors to do while visiting Maui is to make an effort to experience the people and land. Luaus are all good fun, but take it a step further by immersing yourselves in the culture.

Most visitors only half experience the islands. Along with devastatingly beautiful landscapes and unseasonably agreeable weather, Hawaii is rich with history and tradition.  Learning with the people of Maui and Hawaii will afford you the full experience we cherish on the island.

You can do this in many ways. Maui luaus are a great start. Though some if them can be a little cheesy or unauthentic, if you get the right one, you’ll enjoy more of a cultural Polynesian and/or Hawaiian experience. Push it a little further, especially if you’ve previously already visited Hawaii and definitely if you’ve got little ones. Help in one of the many restorative projects, spend time talking to the knowledgeable people at the visitor centers, volunteer at the humane society or as a whale watch guide.  There are so many ways to give back while taking in the islands. You’ll be happy that you did. Make your next trip meaningful, while building long lasting relationships. this will ensure a heightened sense of belonging when coming back as well as leave you with more warmth than a sun tan can provide. Consider your own emotional wealth when traveling in the future.
