Maui Sunset Cruise

Posted in: Blog, Maui by MauiHawaiiUpdates on October 15, 2011 | No Comments

Sunset on Maui is unparalleled in the first place, but when you add viewing it from the ocean, the bar is moved up.  We LOVE going on sunset cruises.  There’s really nothing better than being with friends on the water with warm winds blowing and a cold tropical cocktail in your hand.  Good times.

One of the best boats to go on for these Maui sunset cruises is the Aikane X5.  This vessel is a 62 foot power catamaran that only allows a maximum of 12 passengers onboard for a shared trip.  That means you get A LOT OF BOAT for very few people.  Perfect.  The reason we bring this up is because some boats will send  you out with 50-100 people beating each other up over a spot to sit and watch the sunset.  Not fun.

Give Kelly a call and reserve this one-of-a-kind sunset cruise boat for your next visit.  1-800-490-0849 They also do the same 12 passenger limits for their shared snorkeling trips and whale watches!  If your group is larger than 12, you can bring them all on with a private charter.

Maui Web Design

We’re building websites for clients again! We know, it sounds strange that at one point we had even stopped.  I’ll explain:  We took a short hiatus from designing websites for clients in order to concentrate on our own network of Hawaii websites.

Maui Web DesignNow we’re back and building!  Our goal is to build no more than 6 websites per year.  because of our detailed methods involved in designing, we can’t take as many clients as we’d like.  Below we’ve listed a few prerequisites required of our clients.

1. Flexibility – This is very important.  Hawaii Web Group builds websites for local businesses in order for them to grow their exposure and brand.  Ultimately, the website has to help the business become more popular and increase their sales.

This means that we have to have the final say in design.  Again, this sounds strange.  You know your business, but we know the web.  If you want someone to build a site exactly as you want, we recommend you find different designers.  We’ll do everything in our power to make your site look the way you want, but some things shouldn’t be done if you want to reach the largest amount of your ideal visitors.   You have to trust us.

2. Content – You know your business better than we do.  We need you to write the content for your pages before we even start.  This point will make or break a business relationship.  Right off the bat, I can tell you that most people we deal with are amped to begin the project and ready to pay, but they’ll never get us the materials we need.  This kills the project. We can make things up for your business, but it won’t be entirely accurate, it will take longer to write and fix mistakes, and it will cost you more for us to write it.

3. Commitment – Once you’ve decided to go with us, you need to be committed 100%.  When we need your input, you’ll need to give it to us in a timely manner. That means getting us answers within hours, not days.

I know this sounds strange to have prerequisites for clients, but we have high standards for what we build, and it takes time.  If we’re going to build, we’re going to do it right!  Give us a shout!

Road to Hana CD

Road to HanaWe’ve recently become acquainted to a new product on Maui called “Experiencing The Road to Hana and Beyond”, which is an audio CD for visitors to Hana.
You can visit them at Road to Hana CD.

At first, we thought it was just another Hana CD sending visitors to the best spots on the way to Hana.  After closer examination, I found some characteristics that have earned our respect.

Here are a few of those points:

Maui SunsetJust minutes away from Makawao town is the beautiful Upcountry area of Kula, Maui. Here you’ll find large expanses of rolling pastures sitting high above Maui’s central valley. Very few people take advantage of vacation rentals up in this area. Most people crowd beaches in front of costly resorts and try to relax. At the Kula Cottage, you can truly relax by being high above the hustle and bustle. Read more…

rugged Maui coastlineWe’ve had the pleasure of getting to know the owners of Valley Isle Excursions, whom from what we understand are the only locally owned and operated Hana tour company on Maui.

On their Hana tours, Valley Isle Excursions go above and beyond what is expected for a tour around the east of Maui.  Read more…

Pride of Maui

Maui turtles

With all the businesses on Maui that squeak by even though they have poor business practices, it’s nice to see a company that handles themselves correctly.  The teams behind Pride of Maui charters have their priorities in order.  Their focus is on giving their guests an experience beyond expectations.  It’s quite obvious that the level of enthusiasm for the ocean and the activities done on it is higher on the Pride of Maui than on most other boat crews. Growing Your Maui Business

Posted in: Blog, Maui by MauiHawaiiUpdates on March 2, 2011 | No Comments

Growing a business in Hawaii in a down economy is no easy task. We’ve outlined a few things that have worked for us.

  • Maui businessesBaby steps - don’t over extend yourself. There’s no shame in growing slowly. Take your time and proceed cautiously. This means being frugal and working within your financial, emotional and time limits.
  • Goals – have goals all along the way. Set small ones and big ones. We started with “get up in the morning and have some coffee then work.” checking things off a list promotes motivation. Make daily goals, monthly, and yearly. Don’t make them unrealistic! If you’re likely to not reach them, it can be daunting and set you back. There’s a fine balance because you don’t want to think too small either.
  • Keep costs down – BUT don’t cut where it counts. A lot of businesses cut advertising and marketing when the economy goes into the pooper. Big mistake! Marketing should be the last thing you cut. How else do you intend to drum up business? If you do anything with marketing, be more diligent in seeing where your leads and sales are coming from. Measure your analytics in every channel of promotion. If you decide to cut, cut what isn’t working. This should be a regular practice in any economy.
  • Be prepared – if your business is growing, or even just maintaining, you’re succeeding with this economy. Be prepared for a jump in business as things speed up. Just like booming businesses in a good economy need to prepare for a slow down, you need to be ready for a push. Don’t expect it, but be ready for it if it happens. We believe that companies that succeed when beginning in a bad economy are more likely to last for the long haul.
